Meet Tina…born and raised in Jackson, Michigan, Tina left a relationship that was darkened by domestic violence and substance abuse and found her way to Fayette, Alabama a few years ago. Struggling with alcohol and drug addiction and in and out of rehab centers, she thought this move would be the answer, a new start. A few months into her new environment she found herself living in a hotel, still managing to hold down a job but still drinking. One summer night she heard fireworks and decided to check it out. Central Church of Christ was celebrating the 4th of July. She wrote down the name of the church and decided she would visit on Sunday. Upon her arrival the next Sunday, she was greeted by Sally and was quickly made to feel welcome. Tina started attending Red Letters Black Coffee, an addiction small group in Fayette, and immediately made friends with people just like herself, in a safe no judgment atmosphere. After a few months of attending RLBC she was encouraged to get help with her addiction. The Will Bright Foundation offered and provided Tina a scholarship into the Foundry Ministries program on May 27th, 2021, and so her journey began. Living with generational curses, underlying trauma, grief and anger for over 35 years, she is now sober at 53 years old and says, “it’s never too late”. Tina describes her experience of how a girl from Michigan lands in Fayette, connects to the Will Bright Foundation, and the journey it took to get here as “being in the middle of this tree that all the branches are just connected”. Tina is currently working full time at Amazon in Bessemer, part time at the Foundry Thrift Store and is a Foundry graduate! We are truly blessed to be a part of her story. All Glory to God!!
